Today no CCE lesson. I took back my 2 Unity. 1 We revised Chapter1 and did xinpengyou together from Pg7-Pg11. (Including exercise for P1) 2 Returned Spelling2 with yellow file. 3 Revised Listen and Speak of Chapter3. PO 1 Do correction of Spelling 2 and parent sign 2 Return Spelling file tomorrow

25 January

1 Conducted Spelling 2 2 Started Listen and Speak of Chapter3;     Learn to use "请把___给我”。“好的。” by filling the names of utensils .    (Please refer to Pg23 ). No written homework. Thanks you all parents! I have manged to collect all subscription fees of Chinese magazine xinpengyou. We will start to use it as supplementary practice in class.

24 January

1 Went through spelling paper1 and collected yellow file. 2 Finished going through Chapter2 of Activity Bk, and collected Activity Bk. No homework. Reminder: Tomorrow Spelling 2

23 January

1 Revised the new words and sentence structure of Chapter2 2    Went through "yuwenyuandi"(语文园地) 3 Did Activity Bk Pg17 and Pg18 4    Started Chapter 4 with the vocabulary of Pg23 (Item1 to Item8) P.O. 1 This Thursday Spelling 2 2 Activity BkPg11-16 (also Pg17/18 if have not been done). Hand up on Thursday.

22 January

1 Today only one period for Chinese, the other two periods are for CCE. 2  We learned how to write the new words from the passage of woaiyuedu(我爱阅读)。 3 We had no time to give out Spelling 1 test paper. Tomorrow the paper will be returned to the boys for corrections and parent's signature. P.O 1 Finish all xizi  of Chapter2 in the writing exercise book. Reminder: Spelling 2 this Thursday

19 January

1 Conducted Listening Practice1  (Reminded boys to read the pictures and questions before the listening practice/test starts, so they can guess what the question/story is about and easier to catch the answer while they are listening to the recording.) 2 Started to read and understand the passage in woaiyuedu(我爱阅读)。Learned to read and use the new words. (Haven't taught them how to write) No homework. But please start to prepare Spelling 2. Spelling 2 will be conducted next Thursday.

18 January

1 Sorry, I have written the amount of  subscription fees wrongly on the white board.. Please be updated the subscription is 21 dollars, not 12 dollars. 2 Today we conducted Spelling 1 in class. All boys seemed quite confident when they were doing their first spelling. Thank all parents for your closely monitoring . 3 Learned  "duyidu" , including the new words of this part. PO. 1 Complete the correction in the writing exercise book; 2 Do Pg13 and Pg14 except the first one (横折提)and the last one (拿)which have not been taught today.

1 Revised and consolidate the vocabulary and sentence structure of Listen and Speak of Chapter2 2 Issued the subscription letter of xinpengyou《新朋友》 and the envelop for subscription fees ($21).   The subscription is strongly encouraged and we will use it in class as supplementary practice. No homework. Reminder: Tomorrow we have Spelling 1. Please remind your boys be well-prepared.

17th January 2018 Letter to Parents: (for P1 & P2 level CMT Pupils Only) Dear Parents: Subscription of 20 issues of bi-weekly hardcopy magazine “New Friends” (“Xin Peng You”, 新朋 友) and E-tutor On-line (electronic Chinese supplementary materials) As part of the reading enrichment programme and an additional source of supplementary material to learning Chinese other than the textbook, we would like to introduce to you a bi-weekly magazine. There will be 20 issues of magazines from January to November 2018. 15 January

1 Today two periods for CCE 2  One period for Chinese lesson. Start Chapter 2 Listen and Speak. Reminder 1 Several boys haven't completed the homework in Activity Bk. They were supposed to finish doing Chapter1 during the weekend. Please help to monitor. 2 The coming Thursday, we will conduct Spelling 1.Since this is the first spelling, please remind your boy to be well-prepared.

12 January

1. Staple the notification of Listening Comprehension in the boys' POs.(2 boys absent) 2. Collected xizi(writing exercise book) 3. Went through each part of the exercise in the activity bk 4. Students did the exercise by themselves. PO 1 Activity Bk Pg1 to Pg9 ( Do Pg9 with parent and parent sign).

the pinyin of 朋友 and 小朋友

Why is the pinyin of 朋友 different from the pinyin of 小朋友? The hanyu pinyins of 朋友 should be peng(2) you (0), 友 being read as the soft sound (轻声); On page 7 of the textbook, you would have seen the phrase “小朋友”,with 友 being read as the third sound (第三声). So, why the inconsistency?  The reason being, when we are referring to “朋友”, we are referring to the phrase as "friends".  However, when we say "小朋友", we are referring to children/ kids, a specific term with totally different meaning to "friends", hence  "小朋友" is read as xiao (3) peng(2) you (3) , “友” being of the third sound.

Tomorrow we are going to finish the Chapter. Please bring the white board and marker. Will give out the parents' notification about the first Chinese assessment tomorrow. 1 Today CCE teacher Ms Zhang is on MC. No CCE lesson. 2 Only one period for Chinese lesson. We did the following:    Revised the vocabulary and sentence structures of Listen and Speak of Chapter1     Learned how to use question mark and exclamation mark and finished the related exercise in    activity book( Pg6 of Activity book). Reminder: Tomorrow we will need a small white board and a marker tomorrow.  

5 January

Dear parents of 2Unity, Thank you for your prompt reply to the parent's letter, I have received your feedback. Several parents have more or less difficulty in understanding Chinese. so I will write the posts in English so that we can have a better partnership. 1 Revised the name of the clothing in Page2/3; 2 Use the picture book to tell the story and consolidate the sentence structure( Please refer to Pg4/5) - 你要买什么? -我要买.......。  --这件衣服怎么样? -这件衣服(有点太大了/有点太长了) No written homework. Reminder: Please remind your boys to get the Character and Citizenship Education books( text book and activity book) ready for next Monday's CCE lesson if they  haven't passed me the books.

4th January

1 Collected the reply slip of parent's letter issued yesterday.   (Need 10 more reply slips to come in ) 2 Started Listen and speak of Chapter1 (Please refer to Pg2/3) and boys need to revise at home. Gentle reminders: 1 Please bring the textbook to school every day. 2 From next Monday on, please bring the white board with a marker for CL lessons. 3 Please remind the boys to pass the items listed in parent's letter to the teacher .

3rd January
